The first thing you have to know is that every sound can be defined by four different qualities: Duration, pitch, intensity and timbre.

1. FIRST QUALITY OF THE SOUND: DURATION

The duration of a note is how long the note lasts (is played for).

How to prolong or extend the duration of notes and rests:

There are two main ways to do that:

• Dot (puntillo): it increases the value of each note or rest by half.

Tie (ligadura): it links two or more notes that sound the same combining their lengths.

Hoy cumple 59 años Fito Cabrales músico, cantante y guitarrista español del  grupo Platero y Tú, Extrechinato y Tú y de su actual banda Fito & Fitipaldis. 

El estilo musical de Fito Cabrales, tanto en solitario como con Fito y Fitipaldis, se caracteriza por una fusión de rock and roll blues y swing, con influencias del southern rock y elementos del soul. 

Su música se distingue por melodías pegadizas, guitarras prominentes y un sonido cada vez más pulido a lo largo de su trayectoria, manteniendo letras intimistas y personales. ¡FELIZ CUMPLEAÑOS!

EFEMÉRIDE MUSICAL 2 DE OCTUBRE: CUMPLEAÑOS DE STING

Hoy felicitamos a Sting puesto que es su cumpleaños (nació el 2 de octubre de 1951). 

Sting es un cantante y músico británico. Inicialmente ejerció como bajista, y más tarde como cantante. Fue miembro de la banda The Police, antes de formar su propia banda.

Sting ha vendido más de cien millones de discos.

Escuchemos su famosa canción Every breath you take.

Efeméride musical 25 de septiembre: Jean-Philippe Rameau (1683)

Hoy celebramos el nacimiento de  Jean-Philippe Rameau fue un compositor, clavecinista y teórico musical francés, muy influyente en la época barroca.

Rameau es generalmente considerado como el músico francés más importante anterior al siglo XVIII y como el primer teórico de armonía clásica.

Su obra más conocida es la ópera-ballet Les Indes galantes (1735).
